Soul Ties That Binds

Soul Ties

SOUL TIES THAT BIND

A soul tie is the knitting together of two souls that can either bring tremendous blessings in a godly relationship or tremendous destruction when made with the wrong person. The stronger the soul ties, the more we become like those to whom we relate.

A soul tie in the Bible can be described not only by the word, knit but bound up and Aclave or cleave. Cleave has a double meaning:  its meanings to separate or to bring closer together.

There are diverse types of soul ties:

1.  Soul ties between friends.  Read First Samuel 18:1 - David and Jonathan=s souls were knitted together.

Knit is to tie physically.  This means to gird, confine, and compact, knit mentally - in love, in alliance.  To bind up (to make) - to make is to conspire, conspiracy, conspirator.  To join together; to knit stronger; strong concordance. A soul tie is a strong bond between two people in the realm of the soul.  It can either work for good or it can work for evil.

In First Samuel 18:1 you read that Jonathan and David=s souls were knitted together.  In verse 3, David and Jonathan formed a covenant because they loved each other deeply.  They were soul tied.  One should closely examine those who they are soul tied to.  Why?  Because who we are tied to are greatly influential in shaping our lives.

When a person who is bonded to another is governed by impure motives or the desire for selfish gain, the soul tie between them can enable that selfish one to manipulate, deceive, and abusive the other.

EFFECTS OF SOUL TIES

1.  Manipulate: to manipulate is to maneuver, to handle physically, operate, work, and conduct.

A.  Emotional Manipulation - tears, rage, and silence.

B.  Spiritual Manipulation - this includes guiding or instructing people through false visions, false prophesies, and false words from the Lord.

2.  Deceive: one, who beguiles, tricks, betrays, misleads, lies.

3.  Abuse:  abuse is to mistreat, severely scold, injure, damage, ill-use, rather than appreciate.  A person can control another through soul ties because the mind, will, and emotions of the two people are now open to one another.

FLESH OF MY FLESH

Soul ties can be formed in Marriage Relationships.

According to Genesis 2:24, ATherefore shall a man leave his father and mother and shall cleave unto his wife and they shall be one flesh.  Cleave is to bind or to be bound.

Bound: to yoke or hitch; by analogy to fasten in any sense, to join battle; bind fast, gird, harness, hold, keep, make ready, order, prepare, prison, put in bonds, set in array (this is from the Strong=s Concordance).

Genesis Lexicon - Page 68 defines bound as: a bond or prohibition upon oneself, to bind oneself with a vow of abstinence, promising to abstain from certain things otherwise permitted.  Read Numbers 30:3.

One of the highest forms of soul ties is formed in the marriage.  Relationships that God ordained.  Two people become knitted together in the soulish realm when they become one flesh.  Adam confirmed this in Genesis 2:23, when he said… This (woman) is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. In other words, this woman is my other self/part.

THE MARRIAGE COVENANT

Because the soul tie is so strong, the marriage covenant was never created by God to be broken by divorce or adultery.  Divorce and adultery are particularly devastating because tow intertwined souls have been literally ripped and torn apart.  This causes infliction upon each other, which leads to deep wounds.  The soul tie formed through sexual union of marriage is unique - man was created to have this bond only with one woman.  Sexual union was made by God so that man and woman could be a whole being.  Spirit to spirit, soul to soul, and body to body.

IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN

In the beginning when God created man in the Garden of Eden.  He took a rib of the man to make the woman.  God made them and called their name Adam.  Their unity was so perfect that they had the same name.  It was only after they sinned and a separation came between them and God that when the woman was called Eve and the man was called Adam.

Sexual union of marriage ties two souls as one.  If one of the marriage partners commits fornication or adultery with persons outside of his other marriage. Their soul becomes mysteriously knitted and tied to the other person, they cleave together just as in marriage. The soul ties formed through illicit sexual involvement is just as strong and binding as those ties formed through the marriage covenant.

SEXUAL SNARES

Genesis 34: 1-3 gives us an illustration of how fornication and immorality form soul ties.

Genesis 34: 1-3

v1) And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bares unto Jacob, went out to see the daughter of the land. v2) And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her.  v3) And his soul clave unto Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the Damsel.

Shechem did not love Dinah.  After raping her, he lusted for her because he had become soulishly tied to her and his should long for her.  Even through the defilement of rape, their souls had been tied together.  Genesis 34: 4, 8 make this very clear as Hamor, Shechem’s father, approached Jacob, Dinah’s father...

v4) And Shechem spake unto his father Hamor, saying, Get me this damsel to wife.  v8) and Hamor communed with them, saying, the soul of my son Shechem longeth for your daughter: I pray you give her him to wife.

Dinah got under his skin.  To indicated how strong these soul ties are, Genesis tells s that the desire of the woman shall be for her husband or for the mate who becomes her first soul tied partner.

Genesis 3:16 says:  And they desire shall be thy husband, and he shall rule over thee...

This ruling of man over the woman, wasn=t meant for them to dominate her and keep her away from God.

SEXUAL UNION OUTSIDE OF MARRIAGE CAUSES ONE TO BECOME SEXUAL SLAVES

Premarital and extramarital affairs can mysteriously tie one=s soul to many lovers and partners.  Most individuals have no knowledge or ideas how sex outside of the marriage bond scatters their souls and destroy their ability to commit to one partner.  Scatter means to: disperse, distribute, spread, separate, part, split-up. The Bible tells the marriage partners that they are to be the continual fountain through which the other is satisfied.... a cistern not to be shared with others.

Proverbs 5:15-19 states:

v15) Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.  v16) Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of water in the streets.  v17) Let them be only thine own, and not strangers with thee.  v18) Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

THE WOMAN IS THE GLORY OF THE MAN

Proverbs 5:20-22 talks about the strength of the physical union between a man and a woman.

v20) And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?  v21) For the ways of a man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his going (God’s divine vision; He sees).  v22) His own iniquities (His sex sins) shall take the wicked himself and he shall be holden (enslaved and tied) with the cords of his sins.

Casual affairs can and will bind you for life.  Why is this?  Because sexual relations take a form of dominion over the woman. Your human spirit and soul is built to respond to the man by nurturing him, supplying affection to him and being that man=s fountain of satisfaction and blessing all through his life.  Therefore, Apostle Paul says women can be led captive by deceitful corrupt, crafty, degrading men who are nothing but playboys.

II Timothy 3:6 (AMP) - For among them are those who worm their way into homes and captivated silly and weak-natured and spiritually dwarfed women, loaded down with (the burden of) their sins.  Swayed and lead (easily) by various evil desires and seductive impulses.

Ecclesiastes 10:8 says, AHe that diggeth a pit shall fall into it a serpent shall bite him.

Christians can break a hole in the protective hedge that God has prepared for them.  How?  They can do this by sin, and when they do this, AA serpent will surely bite them. In Luke 10:19, Jesus refers to demons as serpents and scorpions.

Fornication is most a hedge - breaking sin.  Demons are more devastating than any venereal disease, herpes aids.  Demons are also passed from one person to another through sexual intercourse. Therefore, Paul wrote to the Corinthian saints to Aflee fornication.

According to I Corinthians 6:18-20: Every sin that a man doeth without the body; but he that commiteth fornication sinneth against his. therefore, glorify God in your body, and in your spirit.

Ephesians 5:30-32, Paul says, AFor we are members of His (Christ=s) body, of His flesh, and of His bones.  This is a great mystery: But I speak concerning Christ and His Church.

Just as our souls are tied to the Lord and we are one with Him, so it is when two people become bonded in marriage; they also become one.  Their soul ties are so powerful that they may, at times, walk, talk and act alike.  When one starts a sentence, the other may finish it.  They may even begin to look alike.  In love, they absorb the best from each other.  In strife, they absorb the worst from each other.

SCATTERED SOULS THROUGH ILLICIT ACTS

What do you think happens to you when you formed soul ties with many partners through fornication?  Your souls become fragmented and scattered among all you sexual partners.

This causes you to become unable to give yourselves fully to your mates.  Regardless of how you want to, it seems impossible.  Your thoughts and your emotions are continually drawn back to your past lovers and you may even have thoughts of hatred.

John Sanford of Elijah House Ministries explained in one of his seminars that:  If a woman has sexual relations with several men, her spirit and soul seek out every one of them.  Her spirit is scattered and torn apart (often, therefore she becomes sickly).

A man’s spirit is so built that for each woman that he enters, his spirit is built to find, protect, bless, nurture, and provide for that woman.  A man’s soul can also be scattered and destroyed through adulterous affairs.

Proverbs 6:27, 29, 32 say:

v27) Can a man take fire to his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?  v28) Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?

v32) But whoso commiteth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding; he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.

There is nothing more destructive than sexual sin.

I Corinthians 6:18 states, AFlee fornication, every sin that a man doeht is without the body; but he that commiteth fornication, sinneth against his own body.

To all their former lovers, but when they finally marry, they often have sexual communication problems with their mates.  They are unable to be sexually satisfied by their marriage partner because they suffer from a scattered soul and cannot share themselves fully with their mate.  They often seek satisfaction, not only with multiplied partners, but also through experimentation with bizarre forms of sex that may eventually lead to perversion.

This type of spirit works with the Spirit of Lust and all sorts of lasciviousness.

James 1:14-15 (AMP) warns:  But every person is tempted when he is drawn away, enticed baited by his own evil desire (lust, passions).  Then the evil desire, when it has conceived, gives birth to sin, and sin, when it has matured, brings forth death.

Lust and sin is gratifying for the moment, but a person always pay later in shame, guilt, humiliation, anger at self, anger at God, sorrow, and torment.

SEXUAL TRANSFERENCE

In First Corinthians 6:18, Paul writes that every sin is outside the body, but he who commits fornication, sins against his own body.

Almost in disbelief, Paul asks the Church, in First Corinthians 6:15-17:

Know ye not that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the member of Christ, and make them members of a harlot?  God forbids.  What?  Know ye not that he which is joined to a harlot is one body?  For two, saith He. shall be one flesh.

Because the Christian is one with Christ, Paul is shocked and dismayed that someone would even dare to defile himself with an unholy, adulterous relationship.

A seducing spirit is sent to bring Christians down; these spirits have been assigned by Satan to attempt to stop the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  This seducing is to break the hedge of protection.

HOW TO KEEP OUR SOULS FROM SCATTERING

This is found in the Word of God: Psalm 119:1 states, Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord.

WE MUST PRAY IN FAITH

Father, in the name of Jesus, I submit my soul, my desires and my emotions to your spirit.  I resist the devil, I confess, as sin, all my promiscuous, premarital sexual relationships and all sexual relationships outside of marriage.  I confess all my ungodly spirits, soul, and ties as sin.

Father, I thank you for forgiving me and cleansing me right now.

Father, thank you for giving me the keys to your kingdom, the keys of spiritual authority to unlock doors of generational curses.

What I bind is bound and what I loose is loosed.  In Jesus name, I ask you to loose me from all soulish ties and memories that bind and tie me to past sexual partners and ungodly relationships.  Please uproot all tentacles of sexual bondage, of emotional longings, and dependencies, and of enslaving thoughts.  I bind, renounce, and resist any evil spirits that have reinforced those soul ties and evil association.

By your grace, please keep me holy in my spirit, soul and body.  Thank you, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
